Commissioners Court Resolution Amending Established Methods for Submission of Public Information Requests by Electronic Mail
Court Resolution
A public information or open records request is a request for public information contained in the files or records of a Texas governmental agency. Open records or public information requests are governed by the provisions of the Public Information Act, located in Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code. Additional information regarding public information requests and the Public Information Act may be obtained by consulting the Texas Attorney General Public Information Handbook.
A public information or open records request must be for the inspection or copies of an existing document or record. An agency is not required to generate a new document to respond to an information request. An agency is also not required to answer questions to respond to an information request.
